This simple animation technique, created from a sequence of rapidly played photographs that our eyes perceive as continuous movement, is enjoyable for both younger and older children. Working with images, motion, and sound is easy and accessible, naturally fostering creativity, collaboration, and communication skills.
All you need is a tablet or smartphone and the included stands, and children can quickly bring drawings, toys, or clay models to life. Whether they retell a story, invent a new one, or explain a complex concept, they learn through play and hands-on experience.

How it works? From the first frame to the premiere
Creating stop-motion animation with Piximakey Animation Studio is a playful and creative journey that guides children through every steps of the filmmaking process.
Start by setting up your tablet or phone using included stand. The case itself becomes a mini stage with built-in backdrops, ready for any story.
Children can use toys or handmade characters to bring their ideas to life. After opening the Piximakey app and starting a new project, they’ll see the camera view right away. Then it’s just a matter of taking a photo, moving the character slightly, and repeating the process to create movement.
When the visuals are ready, it’s time to add sound. With a tap of the microphone icon, young animators can enter the sound editor to record voices, effects, or background noise, adding another layer of personality to their film.
And finally, it’s time to share the finished film – at a classroom or with friends and family.
Two creative sets, unlimited possibilities
Piximakey is available in two versions.
The Animation Studio in wooden case is a compact all-in-one animation stage. It includes durable wooden tablet and phone stands for filming from the front or top, reusable backdrops in two colors, and 5 cans with soft, colorful animation clay that holds its shape beautifully on camera.
For even more flexibility, the eco cardboard version offers lightweight portability with a fun twist. Inside, children will find eight interchangeable backgrounds – from racetracks and magical forests to the depths of the ocean and outer space – as well as pre-made characters and green screen for endless creative freedom.
Both kits are compatible with the free Piximakey app, designed to be intuitive enough for preschoolers while offering tools for editing, sound recording, and sharing animated stories.

Piximakey App
The Piximakey app has user-friendly intuitive design, so even a 3-year-old can animate on their own. You see the functions you need, when you need them, and you’ll be guided from the first picture to sound-recording and sharing of the finished movie.

In addition, while the animation is being created, the app shows you a „ghost picture“ of the last photo you took, so you can see how far you move the figure.
