Coding Set & Coding Set Pro

The interactive robotics set from MatataStudio is ideal for children from 4 years old, as no reading skills are required to operate it. Commands are entered using easy-to-use, intuitive blocks that children place into the control panel.

Ideal for children from 4 years old

Coding Set

MatataStudio allows children to acquire key 21st-century skills in a playful way, without the need for a screen or app. The set is designed to introduce children to computational thinking by allowing them to physically hold and assemble colorful coding blocks into simple algorithms.

No prior experience is required for programming, and both sets include three challenge booklets of varying difficulty to help children understand programming principles while practicing problem-solving skills in a playful manner.

The Coding Set Pro expands cross-curricular learning opportunities and fosters creativity, as it includes music and angle blocks that children can use to compose their own music or draw simple shapes – MatataBot even has a slot to easily insert a marker.

A program you can touch

  • Programming using the command tower control panel
The Coding Set and Coding Set Pro are designed for the youngest children because MatataBot is controlled using colored blocks with pictograms that are inserted into the control board, meaning reading is not required. This method of teaching basic programming principles is ideal for children aged 4–9, as it is easy to understand, makes learning engaging, and protects their eyes from excessive screen exposure.
Different block colors represent different commands (e.g., direction, number, loop, etc.), and the holes on the back of the blocks make it easy for children to insert them into the control board, as well as combine main and expansion blocks like puzzle pieces.
The commands placed on the control board are captured by a camera and transmitted via Bluetooth to MatataBot, which moves according to the program.
  • Programming via app
MatataBot can also be controlled using a mobile app or online Scratch editor, where children can experiment with block programming. The puzzle system teaches children which commands cannot be combined because they do not “fit” together.

LEDs for instant feedback

The command tower, control board, and MatataBot feature a speaker and LED lights that provide different signals for various situations (e.g., program running, program finished, etc.), giving children immediate feedback.

Develop creativity and expand programming possibilities

Coding Set

The MatataStudio Coding Set Pro already offers more possibilities than the basic Coding Set, as in addition to basic blocks (e.g., movement, function, loops, etc.), it includes music blocks, melody blocks, and expansion angle blocks. For even more options, you can choose from the Add-On sets (all can be combined with either the Coding Set Pro or the Coding Set).

Create your own music with the Musician Add-On, get more angle blocks for drawing complex shapes (Artist Add-On), or teach MatataBot new movements and change LED colors with the Animation Add-On. Creativity has no limits!

The set offering the most possibilities is the Sensor Add-On, which includes a controller with built-in sensors that expands coding options by allowing children to program MatataBot to detect and respond to obstacles, colors, and even sounds.

Applications

  • MatataCode
To explore advanced features and introduce children to block programming basics, you can download the MatataCode app. It allows creating programs using colorful blocks representing commands.
  • Online Scratch editor
The Scratch editor for Coding Set and Coding Set Pro can be accessed on any desktop, laptop, or tablet with Bluetooth, or its offline version can be downloaded. It is free to use and available in Czech.

The MatataCode app is available for free on iOS and Android devices.

Rechargeable battery

The command tower and MatataBot are powered by a built-in Li-ion battery, which can be easily charged via the included USB-C cable. When fully charged, the robot runs for approximately 4 to 6 hours. A completely depleted battery may take up to 2–4 hours to fully charge.

Both the tower and MatataBot feature a power-saving mode that activates automatically during extended inactivity, conserving energy. In sleep mode, the robot consumes very little energy, so a charged battery lasts longer.

Connectivity

The command tower and MatataBot communicate via Bluetooth technology with a range of up to 6 meters.

Matatalab tactile programming language

The Matatalab tactile programming language is suitable for children from 3 to 9 years old. Instead of clicking and reading on a screen, it uses physical programming blocks representing commands, loops, or logical structures. Children assemble the blocks into sequences, creating programs that control the robot’s behavior.

Practical and playful: Children learn to program by physically manipulating blocks – abstract concepts become tangible actions.

No reading required: Intuitive symbols on the blocks make programming accessible even to the youngest children – naturally, clearly, and understandably.

Building confidence through trial and error: Children learn to predict robot movements, test solutions, and improve them based on results.

Inclusive and engaging: Supports all students regardless of language, experience, or prior skills.

Developing a growth mindset: Through experimentation, adjustments, and seeking better solutions, children develop perseverance and problem-solving skills.

Encourages teamwork: Children can work in pairs or teams, collaboratively design and modify programs, fostering communication and team spirit.
